Skipton 17 vs 48 OORUFC
A convincing win at Skipton

Old Otliensians continue their winning form with a convincing win at Skipton

Hoping to secure their place at the top of Yorkshire three, Otliensians travelled to Skipton last Saturday. Despite missing several key players after the clash with Thornensians, Ensians were still firm favourites. Coach Andy Hinchcliff promoting young colts Freddie Abraham and Ciaran Diamond to the 1st XV for their debut outing.

With a strong easterly wind in their favour, Ensians controlled their phases well and gave little opportunity to the home team. Just 5 minutes in, young winger Isaac Gillson opened the scoring for Ensians. A further five tries, and four conversions followed during the first half. Flying winger Will Howarth scoring three, and Full back Connor Bateman and scrum half Rob Lofthouse one each.

With a half time score of 3:38, the home team really had to dig deep to try and turn the tables.

Skipton appeared more organised in the second half, and managed to score two converted tries, but this wasn’t enough to hold back the ‘blues’. Howarth added a fourth to his tally closing the score line at 17:48.

Next weeks match is a top of the table clash against second place Halifax. 3pm at Chaffers field.
