New Coach for 2011/12 Season
He is John Walker, aged 45 and a
non-player (due to various knee injuries).
He has coached at Sandal for 7 years and has assisted with coaching at Yorkshire Central District level. He is a Level 2 qualified coach.
His playing career as a prop started in
Yorkshire and he played representative
rugby for Yorkshire U/16s before moving to the South West. There at county level he played for various Cornwall junior age groups up to the Cornwall U/21s and Cornwall "B". He also gained representative honours with the South West Divisional team.
On returning to Yorkshire, he played for
Sandal 1st XV in what was then the
North 1 League and, as injuries took their toll over the years, he eventually moved into coaching.
John and his family live in Ossett and he
is a building surveyor by trade.
John is an experienced and well-qualified coach and we feel confident
that this,
coupled with his friendly personality, will help 'Ensians move forward after a very difficult time last season.
