Old Grovians 1st XV 20 pts vs Old Otliensians 1st XV 10 pts
Old Otliensians just lost a hard but scrappy match at Apperley Bridge against Old Grovians by 20 points to 10. Unfortunately ‘Ensians had a weakened team due to injuries and unavailability. They played with the wind in the first half.
Grovians spent much of the early period in the ‘Ensians half but the visitors took the lead with a penalty by Matt Tenniswood followed shortly by a penalty by Grovians. Much of the remainder of the first half was spent in the ‘Ensians half, Grovians scoring two unconverted tries wide out to make a half time score of 13-3 to the Grovians.
The ‘Ensians were much more co-ordinated in the second half, playing with much better understanding of each other, after the half time talk by the coach. Ieuan Cranswick impressed with some great tackling and the forwards drove into the Grovians pack with Lee O’Donnell Ben Smith and Rob Arbuckle prominent, forcing Grovians to give away a number of penalties thus enabling ‘Ensians to make valuable ground.

tacklers and passing to Josh Butterill who weaved his way over the line
for the best try of the match. This was converted by Cranswick to make the
score 13-10 in favour of Grovians.The ‘Ensians supporters were hoping for
a grandstand finish but the home defence held. In their enthusiasm
‘Ensians gave away a penalty in the last seconds of the game resulting in
a converted try wide out by Grovians making a final score of 20-10 to the
